Dear friends of good things,
Our friendly dwarf sheep, that diligently care for our vineyards, do themselves occasionally need some taking care of. A few days ago - with the competent help of some friends: Ena, Emanuel and Vlad - we pruned the hooves of the little Ouessants. The sheep don't have enough access to rocks and cliffs in the vineyards and are therefore not able to wear down their steadily growing hooves by themselves.
This worked perfectly - just in time for the festivities on August 1st. King Ludwig, our breeding ram, did however become a bit jealous. He is aware, that his ewes will soon be ready for copulation, and during that time his hormones are at crazy levels. During this time he defends his territory with great vigor. For a moment, I wasn't paying close enough attention – and promptly got a bruise on my thigh. Nothing serious, but a good reminder that you always have to be vigilant in nature.
Everything went well – just in time for the August 1st celebrations. Only, the buck, King Ludwig, got a little jealous. He sensed that his ewes would soon be receptive, and then his hormones went a bit haywire. He defended his territory accordingly, quite vigorously. For a moment, I wasn't paying close enough attention – and promptly got a bruise on my thigh. Nothing serious, but a good reminder that you always have to be vigilant in nature.
This year we had four ewe lambs, and I'd like to reduce the size of my flock. Therefore, I'm now selling six beautiful ewes in their prime. If anyone is interested, please get in touch.
All the best, Hoss
